Tiraspol, 2 August. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The 26th anniversary of Pridnestrovie was marked among other things by a parade of family dynasties. The column, which marched through Tiraspol's centre, was headed by the large families whose mothers were awarded the title of Hero Mother. There are over 3,800 large families with almost 13,000 children in the country today.

They were followed by artistic dynasties including renowned artists, actors, musicians and representatives of other cultural and artistic occupations. They were also accompanied by the students of children's music and artistic schools who became laureates at republican and international contests. About 6,500 children attend such schools in Pridnestrovie.

The dynasties of teachers who have been engaged for decades in educating and bringing up new generations also took part in the parade. There are 66 dynasties of this kind in Tiraspol. They were accompanied by those who will probably win fame for our country in the future – 1st and 11th grade pupils.

At the tail of the column went athletes. The dynasties of coaches and their trainees, many of whom became international prize winners, paraded along the capital's square with their sports equipment.

It was the first time the parade of families, and not the parade of servicemen and military hardware, had been held in Pridnestrovie. And it was not only meant to commemorate the declared Year of Family Values. According to Pridnestrovian President Yevgeny Shevchuk, it was meant to show what the country's priorities are.

"We'd like everyone to see today, on the Day of Republic, that our priorities are peace, families and prosperity," said the head of state.

He also recalled that in recent years Pridnestrovie had implemented a package of measures aimed at developing and supporting the rising generation, including unprecedented investments in education and healthcare.

"The state is transforming and reconstructing the infrastructure. Significant repair works have been done in kindergartens and schools as part of the Prioritet [Priority] programme. Tiraspol, in particular, had suffered a shortage of kindergarten places before 2012, with 1,600 children in need of them. Now this all has been improved. And our healthcare programme at the same time aimed at families: the lives of over 90 little Pridnestrovians were saved owing to new technological equipment," said Yevgeny Shevchuk.
