Tiraspol, 30 August. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. As part of cooperation with the Russian Federation, Pridnestrovie will start next week survey and design works aimed at reconstructing the country's land-improvement complex. As Pridnestrovian President Yevgeny Shevchuk said at today's press conference, the Russian Federation is to allocate about 30 million roubles for this purpose.

This will be the reconstruction of the current system, including the restoration, modernisation and renewal of the existing facilities. The works will be performed in several stages.

«The target is to design a land-improvement system that would protect our agriculture against the most frequent natural catastrophes. Our agriculture is known to lack a certain amount of precipitation, and the steadier are the capabilities of our agriculture to irrigate our lands, the steadier is harvest, profitability and so on," said the president.

He underscored that Russia's assistance in this sector was the result of two years' efforts by the presidential administration and the government.

«We reckon that we'll manage to find resources and implement this project in a few years, which will considerably increase the potential of the Pridnestrovian economy and its agricultural sector in particular," concluded Yevgeny Shevchuk.
