Tiraspol, 20 July. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The TirasMed medical centre has been inaugurated today in Tiraspol.

The ceremony was attended by the chairman of the government, Pavel Prokudin, and the healthcare minister, Tatyana Skrypnik.

The minister recalled that the building of this medical institution had been built back in 1896. The second stage of construction dated back to 1962, with the building being put into commission in 1963.

«Over this period of time no considerable funds had ever been allocated to repair works. Considering a poor state of the building, a decision was made two and a half years ago to attract investment and start repair and reconstruction works, procure new medical equipment. The implementation of this project became possible thanks to the support of the Pridnestrovian Humanitarian Fund. The aggregate amount of the investment has totalled about $2 million," said Tatyana Skrypnik.

TirasMed has the status of state unitary enterprise (GUP), According to the minister, this medical facility is ready to provide a broad spectre of medical services in the sphere of polyclinic diagnostics and treatment. The centre is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Healthcare, with relevant specialists of high qualification, trained in Russia and Ukraine, being invited to work here. About 100 persons will provide medical services, starting from laboratory diagnostics to narrow specialists (cardiology, neurology and other areas popular among the population).

«Our medical centre is one of the most up-to-date diagnostic facilities. Its prices will be lower than those at immediate competitors' and in Moldova. We will offer bonuses for certain categories of citizens, including pensioners and disabled persons. The enterprise will assume these costs because these bonuses will not be offset," said the chief doctor of TirasMed, Andrey Panasyuk.

«We'll reach the full operating power within the next few weeks. Since tomorrow laboratory and therapeutic services will be available for citizens. Then other specialists will join in the work. The centre works from 7:30 to 19:00, including on Saturdays. Doctors may visit patients at home. The work of an electronic record room is being adjusted. Our centre offers both traditional medical services and new ones that have never been provided before. This refers, for example, to cutting edge endoscopic equipment, cryosauna and EEG video monitoring," said Andrey Panasyuk.
