Russia to help PMR reconstruct and modernise pump stations and irrigation systems

The amount of assistance will exceed 2.4 billion Russian roubles

Tiraspol, 11 July. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources of the PMR actively works to implement undertakings pursuant to the memorandum on modernisation of Pridnestrovie's land improvement complex signed with Russia's agricultural ministry on 2 July 2014.

Back in April 2015 an expert group of the land improvement department of Russia's agricultural ministry visited the country to study this issue. The experts inspected the state of the main irrigation systems, based on which a letter of intent was signed to indicate the priorities of the country's land improvement complex.

During a year work has been carried out together with Russian colleagues to draw up an investment programme for the restoration and reconstruction of the land improvement complex covering a number of the main irrigation systems in almost all the districts of Pridnestrovie, according to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

«It is expected that already this year Russia's planning organisations will closely get down to design and survey works. The investment programme «Reconstruction, restoration and development of irrigation systems in Pridnestrovie» aims to cover pump stations and irrigation systems which will ensure steady and qualitative sprinkling of a 26,800 ha territory," says the report.

The programme covers the period of 2016−2018. The funds which are to be allocated for the programme exceed 2.4 billion Russian roubles.

The first stage includes designing and coordination with the relevant organisations of Russia and Pridnestrovie, for which 30 million Russian roubles will be allocated this month already.

All design, reconstruction and construction works will be carried out in compliance with Russian legislation. Russia's brand-new equipment will be supplied to modernise irrigation systems. The acceptance of woks will take place with the obligatory involvement of responsible officials of Russia's agricultural ministry.
