Sergey Gubarev: nobody interested in changing 5+2 format

Tiraspol, 3 June. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Nobody is interested in changing the 5+2 format of the Moldovan-Pridnestroivan settlement, Russia's political representative in the work of the permanent conference, Ambassador at Large Sergey Gubarev, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

«Since 2002 this has been an established negotiation platform. This negotiation process has its own underlying logic. There is a strict distribution of roles: the OSCE — mediator, Russia and Ukraine — mediators and guarantors of the achieved agreements, the EU and the USA — observers, Moldova and Pridnestrovie — sides. I don't think there is anyone now interested in any format change, and the sides are least interested. This is the mechanism that helps to reach specific agreements," said Gubarev.

The diplomat pointed out that current tensions between Russia and Ukraine do not affect the progress of work.

The 5+2 format talks took place at the German MFA's Villa Borzig. It was the first meeting in this format since June 2014. Following the negotiations, all meeting participants signed a common protocol.
