Yevgeny Shevchuk and Vitaly Ignatyev discuss upcoming 'Permanent conference...' meeting in Berlin

The acting foreign minister expressed hope that a number of existing problems in Moldo-Pridnestrovian relations will be soon resolved

Tiraspol, 31 May. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The head of state received the acting foreign minister, Vitaly Ignatyev. The meeting focused on issues related to the upcoming «Permanent conference…» meeting in the 5+2 format, which will take place in Berlin on 2−3 May 2016, the MFA's press service reports.

Vitaly Ignatyev expressed hope that the official round of resumed negotiations on political issues would give a practical impetus to a speedy resolution of the whole range of problems in Moldo-Pridnestrovian relations.

«The Pridnestrovian side regards this meeting as an opportunity to accentuate its positions and draw international attention to finding an optimal solution to the current problems posing problems to our citizens. Among the priority subjects are the problem of politically motivated prosecution run by the Republic of Moldova, the problems of motor road, cargo and railway transportation," said the minister. Special attention will be given to a resolution of the problem of unilateral restrictions imposed by Moldova and Ukraine on the functioning of the Pridnestrovian railway, and in particular on cargoes being transported to the PMR by Pridnestrovian rolling stock.»

In the course of the meeting Vitaliy Ignatyev also said that the main subject of Berlin's meeting would be the discussion of a document which had been earlier proposed by Russia on a 'non-paper' basis.

He informed the president that the Pridnestrovian delegation intended to draw the attention of permanent conference participants to the guarantees of the negotiation process, as well as the importance of avoiding any unilateral actions aggravating the sides' positions.

According to Vitaliy Ignatyev, individual attention will be given to the problem of the scheduled establishment of joint Moldo-Ukrainian border and customs control near the Pridnestrovian border, which was decided outside the negotiation process and in total disregard of the Pridnestrovian side's stance.

«Prospects for the realisation of this destructive decision are not only an evident challenge to Pridnestrovie, but in general are capable of disrupting cooperation at every level of political dialogue," the president's press service notes.
