Government approved Textbook programme for 2017-2021

In the following five years the programme will receive 6.5 million roubles

Tiraspol, 26 May. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The government has approved the state purpose-oriented programme Textbook for 2017−2021. During today's meeting of the government, the minister of education, Tatyana Tsivinskaya recalled that the document's target is to provide Pridnestrovian education facilities, including Moldavian and Ukrainian language schools, with textbooks.

«Since these institutions did not receive new academic literature through the Russian-Pridnestrovian project in 2015, there is a considerable imbalance in the provision of textbooks. Thus, Russian language schools are provided with new textbooks at 105%; Moldavian language schools at 37%; Ukrainian language schools at 43%. This is an issue of great concern to teachers and parents," underscored Tatyana Tsivinskaya.

She added that the Textbook programme for 2017−2021, as before, is the only source for publishing, republishing and purchasing academic literature at the programme's expanse for special and remedial schools, as well as for vocational schools.

«The adoption of new pre-school educational standards necessitates the provision of kindergartens with common program-methodical materials. This programme provides for the publication of such materials for pre-school organisations as well.

Tatyana Tsivinskaya also said that the aggregate volume of funds allocated for the Textbook programme will amount to 6.5 million roubles in the following five years.

«It is far much less than it used to be. For example, the same 2008−2012 programme provided for 11.2 million roubles, and the 2013−2015 programme for 4.2 million roubles. The approval of the 2017−2021 programme will require additional budget expenditures in 2017," concluded the education minister.
