Tiraspol boxer secures medal at Strandzha Cup

A traditional international A-class boxing tournament is taking place in Bulgaria

Tiraspol, 25 February. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. A traditional international A-class boxing tournament is taking place in the Bulgarian capital Sophia from 22 to 28 February. The Strandzha Cup is an international amateur tournament annually held since 1950.

The strongest boxers from all continents and those who want to qualify for the upcoming Olympics compete in the Bulgarian ring.

This year the Moldovan national team includes only one representative from Tiraspol's boxing school and Vityaz sports club, international master of sports Yulia Korol. She competes in the weight category up to 54 kg and has already gained two victories and reached semi-finals.

In her first fight our boxer beat her Greek counterpart 2:0 and in the second fight defeated a Vietnamese boxer 3:0. Thus Yulia Korol has already guaranteed a medal for herself, but the value of this medal will be determined tomorrow after the final fights.

In the semi-final the Tiraspol boxer will fight against Russian champion Tatyana Zarazhevskaya. The coaches of the Pridnestrovian athlete, Anatoly Dovgopol and Maxim Chertykovtsev, highlights a very high level of boxers' competiveness and training.

The Bulgarian tournament is a stage of the preparation for the Olympic qualifying competitions which will take place in Turkey and Kazakhstan.
