Head of the UNICEF Representative Office in Moldova visits Pridnestrovie

During a meeting in the Pridnestrovie's Foreign Ministry, the sides discussed their plans and attractive directions for the further cooperation

Tiraspol, 25 February. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting between the Pridnestrovie's Acting Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatyev and the Head of the UNICEF Representative Office in Moldova Nune Mangasaryan. Chairperson of the Coordination Council for Technical Assistance Galina Sandutsa and UNICEF Deputy Representative Margarita Tileva also took part in the meeting, the MFA Press Service reports.

Welcoming the guests, Vitaly Ignatyev emphasized a high level of cooperation with UNICEF and expressed gratitude for the initiatives carried out towards Pridnestrovie.

«The results of the work that’s been completed are really impressive, and first of al it can be seen at the practical level. We are grateful to the UNICEF for the attention paid to the Pridnestrovie's problems and for the willingness to cooperate through the specialized agencies, including the health care system,” the head of the Pridnestrovie's MFA told.

Nune Mangasaryan shared the positive assessment of the results of joint work and noted that significant progress had been reached in a number of areas of the UNICEF activities in Pridnestrovie.

«We note with great satisfaction the improvements in the field of obstetric aid, maternity and childhood support. So far, we can say with full confidence that the practical training of those working in Pridnestrovian hospitals is at a high and modern level,” the UNICEF Representative said. According to her, a very powerful success has been reached in the field of immunization.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the plans and the future directions of further cooperation. In particular, Nune Mangasaryan said that in the near future the UNICEF activities will be focused on the ongoing programmes of motherhood and childhood protection, security of healthy nutrition for children, as well as promotion of de-institutionalization of the Pridnestrovie's trusteeship system.

At the end of the meeting, Vitaly Ignatiev noted that the current cooperation with UNICEF was distanced from the political issues to the right degree, and it is aimed at systematic and effective work that, according to the Pridnestrovie's side, is very important in the context of difficult foreign policy situation. The Head of the PMR MFA also expressed hope that cooperation with the UNICEF would assume new kinds in the future and would receive an extra impetus for the cooperation expansion on the topical issues.
