Tiraspol, 16 February. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/.  The prospects for cooperation development between Russia and Pridnestrovie, as well as the resumption of the negotiation process between the PMR and Moldova, were discussed today with Russia's MFA ambassador at large, Sergey Gubarev.

Following a meeting with the country's government, the Russian diplomat noted that relations between Russia and Pridnestrovie would develop in all spheres.

"There are ways to develop and enhance our trade cooperation. We should use at full extent what we have at our disposal," said Gubarev in an interview with journalists.

According to the diplomat, Russia is going to promote the resumption of the negotiations between Moldova and Pridnestrovie in citizens' interests.

Sergey Gubarev stated that the negotiation process, launched with great difficulties at the Moscow meeting in 2011, are in a stalemate today. The diplomat believes this is largely due to a government reshuffle in Kishinev. At the same time, after yesterday's meeting with the head of Moldova's reintegration bureau, Gheorghe Balan, Sergey Gubarev feels confident about the forthcoming restart of the negotiation process.

"We have discussed the opportunities of finding the way out of the situation, first of all, the opportunity to settle the issue of criminal cases. We are fully aware that some of them are politically motivated. Although Mr Balan avoided this definition. I will not reveal so far the possible tools for solving this issue," said the Russian diplomat.

Sergey Gubarev noted that Kishinev officials "seriously take Pridnestrovie's concern and are ready take steps to settle this problem." The Russian ambassador is sure that the result will be evident in a month and a half.

"I am sure regular 1+1 meetings will resume in the foreseeable future. And what is more, expert groups will also regularly meet. This is one of the most important channels for implementing a small steps policy. This is an efficient mechanism for solving ordinary citizens' problems," said Sergey Gubarev.

The Russian diplomat hopes to restart the negotiation process between Moldova and Pridnestrovie together with his German colleague, the special representative of the OSCE chairman, Cord Meier-Klodt, who is also on working visit in Tiraspol.

"Cord Meier-Klodt is a very suitable diplomat as a special representative on Pridnestrovie. What I appreciate in his approach is his exceptional realism. He is the man who sets real tasks before him. His main message is 'wish it wouldn't be worse'. In the present situation this is an absolutely correct approach, starting from which we'll try to do something together," said Sergey Gubarev.

The most difficult issue, according to the Russian ambassador, is the prospect for the establishment of a joint Moldovan-Ukrainian customs checkpoint at the Kuchurgany border crossing. Sergey Gubarev assured the journalists that a problem to this solution will be found as well.

"Active efforts are being undertaken to find the way out of this situation which would suit everyone, you may take my word for it," he underscored.
