PMR president: in the present circumstances it is essential to maintain industrial employment

The head of state held a meeting with representatives of Bendery's biggest enterprises

Tiraspol, 2 February. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The president's meeting with representatives of exporting enterprises was also attended by the chair of the government, Pavel Prokudin, financial and economic ministers, the heads of the State Customs Committee and the republican central bank, and the head of Bendery's State Administration.

According to the presidential press office, the main aim of the meeting was to exchange views on the development of a system of additional governmental assistance to exporting enterprises.

According to the directors, the global economic crisis is an endurance test for big exporting businesses. The problem of selling footwear factories' production in foreign markets was raised by JSC Floare director Boris Kichuk.

«We entirely endorse the state policy of increasing export transactions with the Customs Union. However, adhering to this policy is difficult due to considerable devaluation of the Russian rouble and, consequently, a low competitive ability of Pridnestrovian goods. The trade turnover with the Customs Union has halved and the turnover with the EU has fallen by over 25% as compared with 2014," said Boris Kichuk.

According to Softshoes LLC director Yury Cheban, a whole range of footwear manufacturers left China for Vietnam and even some EU countries as the level of costs is lower there.

«We are incurring huge losses," said Yury Cheban. «We cannot sell our production in the domestic market in our usual volumes. The factory's financial performance is signalling negative trends. We need additional investment to cover our current losses.»

A wide range of topics regarding both individual exporting enterprises and the situation in all sectors of economy was also brought up at the meeting. The heads of factories and plants highlighted the importance of retaining market outlets during the crisis.

The participants also discussed the necessity to review the taxation scale for big enterprises, tariff policy on energy supply and proposals to devalue the Pridnestrovian rouble.

On listening to all the meeting participants, the president underscored that in the present circumstances it is essential to maintain industrial employment. Yevgeny Shevchuk instructed the corresponding ministries to summarise the information voiced by the heads of enterprises for a more detailed study and further development of possible decisions.
