Yevgeny Shevchuk: privatisation results should be rethought after elections

This is what President Yevgeny Shevchuk said at a meeting with Dnestrovsk residents

Dnestrovsk, 27 November /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Privatisation results, maintenance of the rouble exchange rate and pricing control became the subject matter of a meeting with Dnestrovsk residents, the presidential press office reports.

«We must positively go away from the neoliberal system. On the one hand, we do not regulate anything, and, on the other hand, one economic activity may come under control of only one economic agent, and he may take advantage of this situation to gain additional income or maximise this income," underscored the president.

Yevgeny Shevchuk one more time dispelled rumours about the change of a system of government in the republic.

«I believe a parliamentary form of government is inappropriate for Pridnestrovie. This is my position," said Yevgeny Shevchuk. «Firstly, a presidential form enables people to elect the president directly. Secondly, in case governmental bodies have different positions or when they are controlled from outside, the president must minimise these negative effects and stabilise the situation in general. We can see the examples of parliamentary republics, particularly Moldova.»

Besides, the president highlighted that all bodies of power should be removed from the control of business structures. «It is necessary to create conditions when people's representatives with pragmatic, professional and pro-state position will be delegated to governmental bodies," noted Yevgeny Shevchuk.

The head of state added that «after the elections it is necessary to rethink privatisation results and those profitable spheres of business that may and do bring profits.» «When the state does not have revenues and only fulfils social obligations — pensions, salaries, support for education and healthcare — it degrades. And we have to adjust our economic policy in this direction," concluded Yevgeny Shevchuk.
