Yevgeny Shevchuk: Pridnestrovie will never kneel

This is what the Pridnestrovian president said in an interview with the Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspaper, commenting on Western plans to stifle the country.

The head of state said that in the months to come Pridnestrovie's economy will face problems after the regime of autonomous trade preferences granted by the EU to Pridnestrovian exporters expires on 1 January 2016.

«In fact, we’ll have to give in if we want our enterprises to maintain their presence in EU markets. We have to admit Moldovan experts, inspectors and tax collectors to our territory, that is, to pass the enterprises exporting their production to the EU under Moldova's control. Otherwise, there are risks and threats of halting any exports," said the president.

He noted that some our «partners» are rubbing their hands, waiting for the «zero hour».

«Some political forces in Kishinev declare that the situation after 1 January 2016 will resemble a final assault following which Pridnestrovie will fall right into their hands. I want to say that not once has the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic fought through crises, but it is the first time we are facing such pressure. The situation is serious, but our independence is not a small coin," said Yevgeny Shevchuk.

«It is high time our 'sworn friends and partners' took it as inevitable: you will never bring Pridnestrovie to its knees, nor will you integrate us into Moldova by the policy of blackmailing, threating and bribing some Pridnestrovian business structures," added the head of state.
