Vitaly Ignatyev: Our conscious choice is orientation towards the Russian Federation

The head of the Pridnestrovie's Foreign Ministry gave a lecture on the First Pridnestrovie's Geopolitics and Regional Security International School

During his speech, the diplomat highlighted stages of negotiations with the Republic of Moldova and circumstances of an international format of reconciliation in detail. Besides, the head of the foreign policy department mentioned some aspects of an international peacekeeping mission carried out under the guidance of the Russian Federation.

Vitaly Ignatyev also drew participants' attention to a number of current issues in the Moldova-Pridnestrovie relations. Among other things, the diplomat raised a problem of politically motivated criminal prosecution against state officials and businessmen from Pridnestrovie by the Republic of Moldova. There's also still an unsettled problem concerning release of the Pridnestrovian policeman who has been kept in Greek prison for more than two months in Athens, and also a problem of repeated deportations of Pridnestrovie's citizens from Kishinev airport.

As the Foreign Ministry Press Service reports, Vitaly Ignatyev expanded on the issue of restrictions on Pridnestrovie’s foreign economic activity imposed by neighbouring countries. n this context, the diplomat said that Moldova systematically violated agreements of the negotiation process, confirming the right of Pridnestrovie to establish free trade and economic relations.

The Head of the Pridnestrovie's MFA also highlighted the most topical today's issue concerning the ban on crossing the Moldovan-Ukrainian border by vehicles registered in Pridnestrovie introduced by the Moldovan side. We remind, on August 24, 2015 the Border Police of the Republic of Moldova unilaterally took the decision without a formal notification of Pridnestrovie and other 5+2 members.

In conclusion, Vitaly Ignatiev said that Pridnestrovie would continue to adhere to the course chosen by the people of Pridnestrovie in a referendum in 2006. «Our conscious choice is the orientation towards the Russian Federation, towards maximum integration with Russia. I think that we will be able, with the support of the Russian Federation and our partners from the Eurasian Economic Union, not only to keep our positions, but also to develop dynamically, to become an effective state, a full member of international community,” - Vitaly Ignatiev noted.
