This is what the president said today when speaking about shadow profits of some businesses. He noted that economic agents' revenue amounts which are subject to taxation has considerably dropped.
«When some economic entities are loosing profits or revenues, they try to use some shadow schemes, which reduces a taxable base. Under such circumstances it is required to considerably amend the tax legislation. The carrot and stick policy should be applied to all tax payers: on the one hand, we should apply expansionary actions for paying «white», or as they say «clean», salaries, and on the other hand, stick, to put it tentatively, is also necessary," said Yevgeny Shevchuk.
According to the president, the legislation as it is in Pridnestrovie today is too liberal.
«We have almost 50% of taxation objects. but they do not pay income taxes anyway because they enjoy tax benefits, i.e. we receive only half of income taxes, although they are assessed. This is a unique situation," said Yevgeny Shevchuk.
He underscored that Pridnestrovie's leadership realise the difficulties enterprises are facing due to the difficult economic situation, but at the same time there must be a balance of interests between the government and businessmen.
«This balance must include all instruments of governmental authorities: both carrot and stick, and there must be up-to-date legislation regulating these issues," underscored the president.
