In an interview with journalists, the deputy director of SB Universal Insurance Systems CJSC, Vadim Katruk, said that since 1 June, when the motor third-party liability insurance was launched, more than 50,000 citizens have bought insurance policies.
More than 30 insured events have already been registered, two of which have already been covered. «These include both mechanical damage of vehicles and automobile-pedestrian accidents. Two events have already been covered. In one case the amount of damage was paid in cash, whereas in another a car was repaired at the expense of an insurance company. The insurance costs were 3,700 and over 1,000 roubles, respectively. We have sent requests to law enforcement bodies for the relevant information on other events," underscored Vadim Katruk. It is recalled that the maximum insurance premium is 50,000 roubles. If the amount of damage exceeds the maximum, the car owner should sue the accident culprit for the rest. Vadim Katruk pointed out that, despite the fact that SB Universal Insurance Systems works until 18:00 on week days only, the insured event may be claimed any time on the phone numbers indicated in the policy as the reparation of damages is possible only if the accident is reported within 48 hours.
It's interesting that among 30 insured accidents which are to be covered there is one that occurred in Moldova. According to Vadim Katruk, the Moldovan insurance company, Grawe Carat, is currently preparing necessary documents. Our information agency has already reported that in April the Pridnestrovian president, Yevgeny Shevchuk, and now former Moldovan premier, Chirill Gaburici, signed the agreement on mutual recognition of insurance policies. Speaking to journalists, Vadim Katruk said that now all 14 Moldovan insurers, dealing with the MTPL insurance, cooperate with Pridnestrovie's company.
At present the Supreme Council is considering a draft law on motor third-party liability insurance which will regulate these legal relations in more detail.
