At the meeting the public expert council, which includes political experts, economists, scientists of the Pridnestrovian State University, representatives of Pridnestrovie's public organisations and foreign ministry, discussed the risks that the republic is facing today.

This time the deputy director of the Russian Institute for Strategic Research, Tamara Guzenkova, took part in the work of the council.

«Our Ukrainian and Moldovan neighbours are carrying out synchronised activities aimed at restricting Pridnestrovie's potential and triggering off domestic problems and instability. Unfortunately, these actions are not constructive and run counter to the negotiation process," said deputy minister of foreign affairs, Vitaliy Ignatyev.

According to Tamara Guzenkova, the situation in Pridnestrovie should be considered in the context of global processes.

«Pridnestrovie should not be taken in isolation, but rather in a broader context of the deteriorated relations between the West and Russia. In this respect, Pridnestrovie is just a link in this process of deteriorating relations," she noted, adding that it would be a problem to resolve the Pridnestrovian conflict until the relations between Russia and the West were settled; however, the negotiations as part of the small steps tactics should be continued.

«The nearest months will be crucial and show in what direction the situation may further develop," believes Tamara Guzenkova.

According to MFA representatives, the opinion of experts and public activists gives an overall picture of the situation, and such meetings make it possible to discuss joint practices relating to the implementation of Pridnestrovie's foreign policy.
