The conference includes involvement of research workers of the Pridnestrovian State University (PSU), leading specialists of the Russian Institute of Strategic Research (RISS), representatives of state bodies and NGOs, as well as PSU students.

As was noted by the pro-rector on science and scientific cooperation of the PSU, Yelena Bobkova, the main goal of the scientific conference is the search for practical mechanisms of development of Pridnestrovie's economy and statehood.

Opening the conference, the PSU rector, Galina Sandutsa, underscored that the PSU has long been a stable venue for the scientific conferences that are aimed at the discussion of prospects for Pridnestrovie's development.

«Quite a few interesting experts, scientists and representatives of civil society institutions have gathered here today. They all understand the importance and significance of being involved in the discussion on the future of our state," said Galina Sandutsa in her speech.

When greeting the conference participants, the chairwoman of Pridnestrovie's government, Tatyana Turanskaya, highlighted the role of the Pridnestrovian State University as the centre of Pridnestrovie's integration into the Russian educational space. She recalled that the PSU had joined the Eurasian Association of Universities, which provides an opportunity to cooperate with more than 80 universities in Russia and the CIS.

«Pridnestrovie sticks to the Russian vector of development in social, cultural, educational and other spheres of life. Retaining historical integrity with the Russian World is reflection of the national idea and national priorities of Pridnestrovie," said the chairwoman of the government.

According to the PSU honourable president, Stepan Beril, Pridnestrovie's participation in the Eurasian project is a chance to pool resources and proceed to progressive economic development.

He emphasised that if Europe seeks to get stronger by attracting intellectual potential from the CIS, the Eurasian Union aims to integrate this potential and set up a common area of the knowledge economy.

The conference participants discussed the role of the civil society in the development of the Eurasian integration, as well as students' international cooperation in the Eurasian space. There was a debate on economic security of the Russian Federation and Pridnestrovie. Individual researchers submitted reports on intellectual potential of the PSU and academic mobility of Pridnestrovie's scientists and students.

At the end of the scientific forum an excursion around Tiraspol and a visit to Bendery's memorial complex will be organised for the conference guests.
