Moldova's side refuses to take part in the joint drills within the operability test of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces

Moldova's police officers kidnapped a person in Bendery last night. His identity is being established at this moment

The incident in the Security Zone was discussed at the next meeting of the Joint Control Commission. Beyond that, the Moldova's delegation declared that they are not going to take part in the joint drills within the operability test of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces any more. It was also talked about the freedom of movement in the Security Zone.

«We submitted very clear amendments and offers in order to suggest a possible decision of this issue today. We gave a very careful and clear signal that the Pridnestrovie's side is ready to make a decision on a freedom of movement in the Security Zone. The key point of this issue is item No. 5 of the 1992 agreement where the sides promise not to apply sanctions, blockade, and restrictions on transport, people and freight movement to each other. Of course, these moments incidentally arise in the Security Zone," the JCC cochairman from Pridnestrovie Oleg Belyakov told.

One of those incidents occurred in Bendery last night. The officers of the Moldova's police investigative group detained a person and took him away in the unknown direction without any proper notification of the Pridnestrovie's side.

«It was seen by people. The police officers run in and handcuff him. Neither JMC, nor the Pridnestrovie's law enforcement authorities and JCC don't know anything about it. He was taken away in the unknown direction. It cannot but disturbs the Pridnestrovie's side. It causes obvious concern in the events occurring in the Security Zone," Oleg Belyakov emphasized.

We didn't manage to make a constructive dialogue. An acting cochairman from the Moldova was absent at the meeting. However, his substitute made a statement that the Moldova's side isn't going to take part in the joint drills within the operability test of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces any more.

«Moldova's side declares categorically that now it isn't going to take part in the joint drills within the operability test of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces. It was an official statement today. Of course, we will figure it, because we didn't see such tough accents about the joint peacekeeping activity from the Moldova's side throughout a long period," Oleg Belyakov concluded.

Oleg Belyakov noted that such statement alarms the Pridnestrovie's side and it was dangerous. They didn't manage to pass to the discussion of other questions this time. The sides will have one more try to come to consensus next Thursday.
