70 years ago, our grandfathers together with our great-grandfathers saved the whole world from the fascism. The Soviet people paid a high price for the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. More than 27 million people laid down their lives for the peaceful skies of future generations.
A significant contribution to the Great Victory was made by the people of our region. Guerrillas and members of the underground resistance, who risked their own lives and the lives of their relatives every minute, stood up against the fascists' occupation. With a heavy heart, Pridnestrovians left their houses and evacuated far inland, where they worked for the needs of the front. The natives of our land, who were at war shoulder to shoulder with their compatriots from all over the Soviet Union in the ranks of the Red Army, weren't broken and withstood in the defensive warfare from Dniester to Stalingrad. They defeated the enemy and liberated their own country and the Europe.
«With this project, we want to remind about the most tragic pages in the history of mankind and about the heroic deeds of our natives, to pay tribute to the veterans of the Great Patriotic War, to the Leningrad blockade survivors, to the homefront workers, to the prisoners of concentration camps," the editor-in-chief of the Novosti Pridnestrovya news agency Andrey Belous emphasized.
