Pridnestrovie's Foreign Ministry commented on the detention of Pridnestrovie's diplomats at the Kishinev airport

The incident occurred on April 3

The MFA Press Service reports that on April 3, 2015, the group of the Pridnestrovie’s Foreign Ministry’s staff was coming back from an official journey by the regular Moscow-Kishinev flight of the S7 airline. They planned to continue going to the Pridnestrovie’s capital.

At arrival to the Kishinev airport, six Pridnestrovie’s diplomats were detained by Moldova’s border police without any explanation during the passport control. Their international passports were revoked; after that they were also illegally dictated to stay in the arrival zone within the neutral territory without any explanation for indefinite period of time.

During this incident, three diplomats of the Pridnestrovie’s MFA were interrogated by the lieutenant Sergej Ciobanu in the Moldova’s border police department. During the interrogation in a straightforward manner, the Moldova’s policeman tried to find out the information about the Pridnestrovie’s diplomats' official journey purpose and their working meetings in Moscow.

In total, the staff of the Pridnestrovie’s MFA was detained by the RM border police during more than one hour; then, nevertheless, the documents were returned to the employees of the foreign policy department. The diplomats were released only after the numerous phone calls from the Pridnestrovie’s Foreign Ministry to the Moldova’s leaders and to the international partners as well.

In the Pridnestrovie’s Foreign Ministry this incident is regarded as the blatant violation of the agreements concerning the freedom of movement. The foreign policy department also doesn’t ignore the fact that provocative activity of Moldova’s border police run straightly counter to the agreement concerning the simplified border crossing procedure during the holidays that was reached during the meeting between the Pridnestrovie’s and Moldova’s leaders in Kishinev on March 14, 2015.

Due to this issue, the Pridnestrovie’s Foreign Ministry emphasizes, there is no doubt that such incident as well as other blockade measures imposed by Moldova will have natural negative consequences not only for the negotiation process between two sides, but also for the entire Moldova-Pridnestrovie relationship.
