The President Evgeny Shevchuk received the Plenipotentiary Ambassador of France

The Pridnestrovie’s party was represented by the Deputy Prime Minister on the International Cooperation, Foreign Affairs Minister Nina Shtanski at the meeting

“We are glad to welcome you in Tiraspol. We’ve always had good relations with the French Embassy. We’ve implemented different projects in the cultural and educational areas, e.g.: we’ve managed to open the French Center in our university. The Pridnestrovians learning French appreciate the possibility to communicate with the French native-speakers,” the Pridnestrovie’s President emphasized.

As the President’s Press Office reports, Evgeny Shevchuk told the foreign diplomats about the current economic and social situation in the republic. The discussion was focused on the Moldova-Pridnestrovie differences settlement process. In particular, they talked about the Pridnestrovie’s initiatives submitted during the negotiations within the “5+2” format. According to the Pridnestrovie’s President, the propositions of the Pridnestrovie’s party hold promise.

Evgeny Shevchuk and Pascal Vagogne exchanged their ideas on the trade and economic functions in Pridnestrovie and also the difficulties caused by the continuing unstable situation in Ukraine and Moldova’s sanctions. “We seek to develop our trade and economic relations but it would be possible if the existing sanctions were lifted. Our common negotiations’ priority is to continue the “small steps” tactic which above all provides the movement freedom of people, goods, services and the capitals and which stays the main part of the coordinated negotiations,” the Deputy Prime Minister on the International Cooperation, the Foreign Affairs Minister Nina Shtanski noted.

During the meeting, the Pridnestrovie’s party emphasized the importance of keeping good neighborly and constructive intercourse with our partners in the Republic of Moldova as well as Ukraine.

Evgeny Shevchuk thanked the French ambassador for the attention paid to the Pridnestrovie’s problems. The Pridnestrovie’s party hoped that the ‘first-hand’ information will be brought to the French Foreign Ministry’s Central Office.

“France is represented by the European Union in the “5+2” format negotiations and it is interested in the stable and improving situation. I saw the frankness, the intention to seek for the economic and commercial relations development and to lift the existing barriers,” the Plenipotentiary Ambassador of France in RM Pascal Vagogne noted following the results of the meeting with the Pridnestrovie’s President.

For the reference: Pascal Vagogne was appointed to the position of the French Ambassador Plenipotentiary in the Republic of Moldova in September, 2014. Today, there was his first official meeting with the Pridnestrovie’s President Evgeny Shevchuk.
