The problem concerning the Moldavian electricity consumers will be solved by the special committee

The power export from the Moldavian GRES to the Republic of Moldova has increased since October of this year. However, Moldova has almost stopped converting its monetary overhang into the hard currency. The remains of unconverted electric power revenue make hundreds of millions MDL

According to the head of Pridnestrovie’s Power, Housing and Communal Service (PHCS) Vasily Vlasov, the power export from the Moldavian GRES to the Republic of Moldova has been increased at the request of Moldavian party since October of this year. Power export increased by 20-25% in the second ten day period of November, in December the increase within 35-40% is expected.

"On this basis the relevant contracts fixing the cost in hard currency for each KWh were signed. Our Pridnestrovie’s power engineers, according to the contract liability, deliver electric energy to the extent fixed in the contract," he noted. "Unfortunately, we faced such a problem that the Moldavian party pays us for the delivered electric power in their native currency. So, we receive less money than it was expected because of the devaluation occurring in the RM".

The special committee will search for possible problem solutions in cooperation with the Moldavian party.

"I hope that we will gain the understanding on this matter and especially on the amount of electricity we deliver, so that the bills will be paid in full. First of all, the Moldavian GRES needs this to implement all of the investment programs, to ensure the reliability of the power supply both for the domestic market, and for export. Also, these financial resources will help to retrofit Dnestrenergo providing the traffic of the electric power," Vasily Vlasov explained.

Reference: The power supply system of Pridnestrovie includes the pump-storage generating sets and the transferring electrical networks. The Moldavian GRES (or State District Power Plant) and the Dubossary Hydro Power Plant generate this electric power. The main supplies of electric energy to the domestic market make up about 1 billion 300 million kW per annum, where 1 billion kW is generated by the Moldavian GRES and 300 million – by the Dubossary Hydro Power Plant.
