Now migration, border and customs services can function in a "one-stop-shop" mode
According to customs officers, this has enhanced the checkpoint's traffic capacity.
"Now there is a common terminal where vehicles stop and are checked by all three services. If necessary, a decision on further control can be taken. For example, in case goods are subject to customs clearance or declaring. If carriers have no cargo, they simply proceed to the entrance or exit," said the deputy head of the Rybnitsa customs, Sergey Parfentyev.
As part of the modernisation, the Rybnitsa-Most checkpoint has been equipped with a new CCTV system to examine high-sided trucks and, if necessary, to perform video recording and take photographs.
"This long zoom camera has a 360° angle of rotation to examine vehicles and fix their licence plates. This camera is also capable of taking photographs which will help to fix the time when a vehicle entered and left the checkpoint," said Ivan Lyakhu, a line inspector at the Rybnitsa-Most checkpoint.
The reconstruction has also affected the territory of the customs checkpoint. The customs control area has remained the same, but the inspection is carried out 100 metres farther, which has eliminated queues at the entrance.
Not only do the customs officers note upsides of the reconstruction, but also citizens crossing the border.
"I often have to go abroad on business, and, let have it straight, we are likely to be in line with Europe as for the pace and quality of customs clearance. Definitely, this is a positive trend," Andrey Stadnik, a driver, expressed an opinion.
We recall that the modernisation of the customs infrastructure takes place as part of the presidential programme to create comfort conditions for the citizens and foreign economic agents crossing the Pridnestrovian border. Special attention is given by the State Customs Committee to the enhancement of the checkpoints which are away from the central motorways.
