Sergey Lavrov: If Moldova changes its military and political status, Pridnestrovie has the right to determine its future

During his lecture, which is part of the Citizens' University project sponsored by the United Russia party, Russia's foreign minister warned of harmful consequences of applying the Ukrainian scenario in Moldova

"I hope the EU realises the harmfulness of the scenario which was put into effect in Ukraine because the same schemes are nursed with regard to Moldova and Pridnestrovie,"  the Interfax news agency quotes Lavrov as saying.

According to the Russian minister, Pridnestrovie will have the right to determine it future if Moldova changes its non-aligned military and political status.

"When we launched the 5+2 process - and it was a key moment - everyone agreed that if Moldova lost its independence and was absorbed by another state and if Moldova refused its non-aligned military and political status, Pridnestrovie would have the right to determine its future. We are going to uphold this fundamental position everyone agreed with," said Sergey Lavrov.
