Modernisation of customs checkpoints under way

The infrastructure of international transport checkpoints is being modernised by implementing dedicated modules for law enforcement officials

The presidential programme for modernising Pridnestrovie's customs and border checkpoints is currently under way. The programme aims are to enhance traffic capacity at checkpoints and create comfortable conditions for citizens and cargo carriers crossing the border.

According to the State Customs Committee, at present the works have been intensified at the Pervomaysk customs checkpoint in order to dismantle old premises and equip new modules. In the passengers' terminal passengers can simultaneously go through border and customs control. There is an extra driving lane in the export sector, equipped with a roof. Besides, GUP Customs Broker clearance agents provide services in filing customs declarations both in the passengers' and transport terminals.

Significant changes have taken place at the Bendery (Varnitsa) checkpoint. The whole customs control area has been modernised. New dedicated modules have been installed for customs, border, and migration services. The parking area has been widened for cargo transport.

"These steps will help to considerably enhance the checkpoint's infrastructure and widen driving lanes. Besides, it will expedite the procedure of transiting vehicles through the customs checkpoint, which is especially urgent with respect to the difficult traffic situation on the way from Bendery to the Severnyi district, " underscores a customs official.
