Dmitry Rogozin considers restrictions to Pridnestrovians' freedom of movement grave violation of UN charter

The special envoy of the Russian president on Pridnestrovie: "What sort of decision is it that gravely violates Ukraine's status as a participant in the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement?"

Russia's Vice-Premier Dmitriy Rogozin said in an interview with journalists that such restrictions imposed by official Kiev on the Russian citizens residing in Pridnestrovie violate all UN conventions on freedom of movement.

"What does that mean? The residents of Pridnestrovie are considered either smugglers or terrorists without any legal decision. Who has decided that in this way? What sort of decision is it that gravely violates Ukraine's status as a participant in the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement?" asks Rogozin.

However, the Russian vice-premier thinks the problem will be solved, but it depends in many ways on the normalization of Ukraine's situation.

In turn, Pridnestrovian President YevgenyShevchukexpressed confidence that the permanent restrictions for the Russian citizens residing in Pridnestrovie are absolutely groundless.

"Not a single fact that a Russian citizen from Pridnestrovie has participated in a military conflict has been registered. This is why we want to reach such level of cooperation with our partners from Moldova and Ukraine that no incomprehensible restrictions can be imposed on us," said Yevgeny Shevchuk.

The head of stateunderscored that Pridnestrovie does not intend to impose like restrictions on the citizens residing in Ukraine, and the republic's leadership hopes the dialogue on this issue will intensify.
