Pridnestrovie's parliamentary delegation meets State Duma members in Moscow

Today, on the last day of their working visit, the Pridnestrovian MPs will meet the rector of MGIMO

Tiraspol, 17 February. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. On the third day of the visit of the Pridnestrovian delegation to Moscow, the MPs held meetings with Russia's State Duma members — representatives of various parliamentary committees and factions, in particular, LDPR, Just Russia and United Russia.

In a dialogue with Vladimir Zhirinovsky and Sergey Mironov, they spoke about the work of a parliamentary group (comprising members of LDPR, United Russia and Just Russia) representing, among other regions, Pridnestrovie in the lower chamber, the Supreme Council's press service reports.

In particular, they focused on the issue of simplified access to Russian citizenship for Pridnestrovian. The Pridnestrovian MPs came out with concrete proposals to amend the Russian laws «On citizenship» and «On compatriots».

As head of the delegation Alexander Shcherba noted, «we are sure when these draft laws are elaborated, these parliamentary groups will support our proposals. In this way, we will get closer to solving the problem of tens of thousands of people who want to acquire Russian citizenship.»

The parliamentarians also visited Duma's social policy committees. In the committee for healthcare, they talked about providing high-tech medical assistance to Pridnestrovians, including surgical operations which are not performed in our republic. In the committee for labour and social policy, the Pridnestrovian MPs and their Russian colleagues sought a way out of the situation when Pridnestrovie's record of service is not taken into account when charging Russian pensions. Duma MPs assured their Pridnestrovian counterparts that they would consider that issue. Besides, Russian lawmakers proposed our MPs to prepare documents enabling Russian citizens in Pridnestrovie to take part in Rossotrudnichestvo projects.

Speaking with representatives of the ruling United Russia party, our delegation discussed youth exchange issues and possible participation of Pridnestrovians in United Russia's party projects. Referring to cooperation with the biggest Russian party, speaker Alexander Shcherba said: «United Russia representatives ran for the State Duma in Pridnestrovie under the slogan 'We don't abandon our people'. Now they are turning this slogan into reality. We are going to develop interaction, first of all, in implementing social projects.»

Today, on the last day of its visit, the delegation will meet the rector of Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO). At the meeting, they are going to raise the issue of obtaining educational quotas in Russia. Finally, they will visit the Russkiy Mir foundation to discuss its cultural and humanitarian projects implemented in Pridnestrovie.
