Tiraspol, January 4. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Rhetoric of the Moldavan authorities against the peacekeeping operation on the bank of the Dniester changed. It was declared by the Pridnestrovie's President Vadim Krasnoselsky at the press conference on the results of the meeting with the Moldovan President Igor Dodon.

«I saw that the rhetoric had changed. Igor Nikolayevich Dodon clearly understands that the presence of the Russian peacekeepers on the bank of the Dniester is a security guarantee and a guarantee that Pridnestrovie won't turn into a new flashpoint, also including Moldova," Krasnoselsky told answering the reporter's question what viewpoint the newly-elected Moldavan leader had about the peacekeeping operation.

It is a reminder that previously over a period of several years a lot of Moldavan politicians and experts declared that the format of the peacekeeping operation on the Dniester with the joint involvement of the military contingents of Russia, Pridnestrovie and Moldova outlived itself and it should be transformed to some civil mission or replaced with the UN peacekeepers. Specifically, such declarations were also made by Anatoly Shalaru who had been release from his position of the Minister of Defense RM by Igor Dodon.

According to Vadim Krasnoselsky, the unique format of the peacekeeping operation on the Dniester should be preserved. «For 24 years, there hasn't been any serious conflict, no peacekeeper on duty has die. That's why this unique format has to be preserved; basically, it is a guarantee of our security," the Pridnestrovie's President told.

The sides also discussed other issues concerning the peacekeeping operation at a meeting. Vadim Krasnoselsky said that Igor Dodon was imparted the Pridnestrovie's concern about numerous cases of prevention of Russian military peacekeeping personnel rotation by the Moldovan authorities.

Let's remind that over a period of 2014−2016 the Moldovan law enforcement agencies repeatedly deported the Russian peacekeepers going through the Chisinau airport to Pridnestrovie from the territory of Moldova.

The sides also discussed unblocking of work of the Joint Control Commission — a governing body of the peacekeeping operation. It's important to mention that the full work of the JCC has been blocked by the Moldavan delegation for more than two years. Representatives of Moldova hold that the issue concerning the freedom of movement in the Security Zone has to be resolved in a priority order by the Commission, and they refuse to continue working on other issues. At the same time, according to the Pridnestrovian delegation, the freedom of movement in the Security Zone is beyond the JCC's competence and should be solved directly by the parties of the conflict, that is Moldova and Pridnestrovie.

«Igor Dodon gave an order to review this problem and finally resolve the issue of blocking of JCC's work," Vadim Krasnoselsky told journalists.

Within the meeting, the presidents of the PMR and the RM also discussed some issues concerning the social and economic cooperation. According to Vadim Krasnoselsky, political issues concerning the status of Pridnestrovie weren't addressed.
