Dmitry Rogozin: there are currently no negotiations on Pridnestrovie's status

Russia's presidential envoy on Pridnestrovie made this statement in an interview with the newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda

Tiraspol, 22 December. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Russian vice-premier, presidential envoy on Pridnestrovie, Dmitry Rogozin gave an extended interview to Komsomolskaya Pravda, in which he touched upon the situation in Pridnestrovie.

According to Dmitry Rogozin, the republic is in dire isolation now.

«They are under all possible sanctions. Ukraine has blocked the entire border. There are permanent provocations at the border. Moldova also intercepted our representatives in Kishinev, sent back our journalists, our peacekeepers. It was decided to recruit employees for our institutions and structures from the Russian citizens who reside in Pridnestrovie," said Rogozin.

He also said that the situation had become less tense under the new Moldovan government led by Pavel Filip and after the Moldovan presidential election won by Igor Dodon.

«We are waiting for him [Dodon] in Moscow. I hope our relations with Moldova will warm up. Although they may not improve completely until Moldova remains part of the association with the European Union. There are politicians in Moldova, like Russophobe minister Salaru, who continue to escalate the situation around Pridnestrovie. I want to tell them: the way leading through a civil war to visa-free travels to Europe is not idiotic but criminal. It would be more patriotic for the Moldovan government to return to an economic union with Russia and other countries which are traditional market outlets for Moldovan goods," added the vice-premier, noting that currently there are no negotiations on Pridnestrovie's status.
