Three Pridnestrovian paddlers to go to Olympics

They have become champions of Russia in kayaking and canoeing

Tiraspol, 21 June. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The kayaking and canoeing Championship of Russia finished in Moscow. Athletes were competing for places in the national Olympic team.

Pridnestrovian paddlers managed to win six medals.

In the kayak pairs 200 m final Alexander Dyachenko and Yury Postrigay again won gold medals and secured the place in the national team. Besides, Alexander Dyachenko won a bronze medal in the single sprint event.

The crew of Alexey Korovashkov and Ilya Pervukhin was dominant in the canoe pair 1000 m and was qualified to the Olympics. Alexey Korovashkov reaffirmed its highest status by winning a bronze medal in the single sprint event. Kirill Shamshurin showed the same result in the 1000 m event.

One more Olympic ticket was won by Vasily Pogreban, who was qualified to the Olympics, becoming a champion in the kayak fours 1000 m event.

19-year-old Tiraspol resident, Vasily Pogreban, won a silver medal, paired with Viktor Melantyev.

The main pre-Olympic competition for our paddlers will be the European Championship, which takes place in Moscow in late June.
